I did it! I actually ran, finished my race, and did it under my goal time! It was an amazing experience...there were SO many people there! I finished (approximately) 4000 out of 8000 people, according to the gun time. Of course, it took me about 5 minutes from the time the gun went off to actually walk to the start line and cross it. That's when the chip in my shoe started recording my time. There were just so many people that it was impossible for everyone to start at the same time. So my chip time was 34:26.8 minutes. I usually run it in about 33, and my goal was to be under 35. So I'm very happy with the results! Here are some pics:
Me before the race
This is taken from where I started- you can vaguely see the start line way down there...
About to cross the finish line...
My medal!
My friend's medal after running 21.5k!
So...that's that! Next race: July 23rd, Heydenshore Hoedown. It's the graduation race for my 10k clinic that I'm in right now. Instead of a tshirt you get a cowboy hat, and afterwards there's beer, wine, a BBQ and country music! Yeeehaw!! We're both doing it...and hopefully I can actually run 10k by then!!
Now it's back to work, and back to stitching :-)
Fantastic! Congrats to you! Sounds like you had fun.
ReplyDeleteWay to go Jodie! It is always nice to be in competition with oneself and beat the goals one sets. Congratulations!
